On Wednesday the Spring semester officially began. I spent the day cleaning out my studio, reorganizing, and building another 48 x 56" canvas stretcher. I need to buy canvas and some large sheets of heavyweight Rives printmaking paper. I want to continue the ice paintings and either incorprate or go back to the small collages I used to make to fill time. (I used to be the queen of "artist's block." It consumed the majority of my first two years of undergrad.) Interesting results came out of mindlessly working. For some reason I'm leaning toward "small and pretty" to ease into the semester rather than "big and powerful." I am still unsure of Two Monumental Mistakes, One On Purpose and that is discouraging me from jumping back into that pattern of working. Regressing to the type of work I've made in the past might be comforting, and consequently more conducive to moving forward with larger work. I mentioned in an earlier entry that I was interested in going back to the mindset I had while creating First Born, but first I need to figure out where I actually was! You will most linkely see updates with: peacocks, collages, drawings, and works on paper. Below are some things I made mindlessly over the past three years:
